A Captain's Guide to Our Habor

Every boat owner and guest must follow these guidelines to keep our waters safe and our community strong

General Conduct & Etiquette

Know what's expected before you bring your vessel to Goose Pond Marina

Noise & Nuisances

Noise shall be kept to a minimum at all times. Owners shall use discretion in operating engines, generators, radios, and television sets so as not to create a nuisance. No loud or boisterous language, loud hailers, or musical instruments will be tolerated. No charcoal grills are allowed on docks or boats.

Guests & Fishing

Boat owners are responsible for the behavior of their guests. Fishing is allowed on the docks but is limited to two guests who must be accompanied by the boat slip owner. Please be courteous—do not leave trash or bait on the docks.

Pets

Pets are welcome but must not be left unattended. While traveling from your car to your vessel, they must be on a leash, and owners must clean up after them. Pets may not be tied to docks, catwalks, trees, or fences and are permitted only if confined to the owner’s boat.

Parking & Vehicles

The parking lot is to be used for your personal vehicle and your guests only. No parking of RVs or trailers (of any type) will be permitted.

Business Use

Neither the vessel nor the Marina address or phone number shall be used for business purposes.

Vessel Safety & Maintenance

Read through these guidelines to understand what we expect from every boat owner

Insurance Requirements

Boat Owners shall provide proof of liability insurance for Goose Pond to have on file and must maintain liability insurance on the vessel as long as it is berthed at Goose Pond Marina. We require 300k liability, you can not use ALFA.

Vessel Condition

Only pleasure vessels in good condition and under their own power shall be admitted. Owners must keep vessels so they do not become unsightly or dilapidated. Decks must be kept free of debris, bottles, and trash. Laundry shall not be hung on boats, docks, or piers.

Electrical & Heating Safety

NO TAMPERING with electrical, plumbing, or any part of the dock facility. Only Coast Guard-approved heaters are to be used in bilges. The use of electric blankets or space heaters is strictly prohibited as they are fire hazards. Plug strips are not recommended.

Walkways & Finger Piers

Main walkways must be kept clear at all times. Finger piers should be kept clear to allow access to both sides of the vessel. No oversize steps or dock boxes are permitted (approved plans available at the office). Please think about your neighbor when placing items on finger piers.

Fuel & Smoking

NO hauling of fuel is permitted on docks or for dry storage. There will be absolutely no smoking or open flames within fifty (50) feet of the fuel dock.

Enviroment & Services

These guidelines keep our Marina safe and our community respectful

Pump Out Services (Thursdays)

Pump out of waste holding tanks is scheduled on Thursdays. Notify the Marina office before Thursday if you require service. This service is $5; please tie up your vessel so the pump out is accessible. (Note: The fuel dock pump out is open 24 hours a day).

Pollution & Trash

Discharge of sewage, oil, petroleum products, or pollutants into the Marina water is prohibited. Trash must be placed in dumpsters. Storage of hazardous materials in dock boxes is prohibited. Violations of federal/state regulations subject the violator to fines up to $5,000.

Regulatory Compliance

All vessels using the Marina must comply with all health and pollution standards of the state of Alabama, ADEM, and the US Coast Guard.

Liability & Emergency Procedures

Emergencies & Storms

Violent storms or flooding may require the removal of your vessel. If your vessel appears to be taking on water and we cannot reach you, you give permission for Marina personnel to board and attempt to correct the problem (Marina assumes no liability for this action). If your vessel sinks, you agree to remove it within 24 hours or pay the Marina to do so.

Liability & Property Damage

Anyone causing damage to Marina property or other vessels (accident or negligence) is responsible for repairs. The Marina is not responsible for loss/damage to your vessel due to fire, theft, weather, or accidents beyond our control.

Slip Assignments

Management reserves the right to reassign you to another slip if unforeseen problems arise. Slips may not be sublet. Boats tied in empty slips without permission are subject to be moved at the owner's expense.

Violations

If owners or guests violate any rules, Management has the option of canceling the slip rent. Prepaid rent will be prorated and refunded after the deduction of any claims or charges. Should this occur, the owner must remove the vessel immediately.
